Audi-Q5-Test-Drive

12/06/2015

I think it would be safe to say that of all of the test drives we have done the Q5 was one of the most surprising vehicles we have tested and had some options that were to die for. To say I was sad to see it go would be an understatement and the night before we gave it back we tested the car for Acceleration of which there was a lot and the sound system which was supremely good (Bang and Olufsen - Option)

The car we tested was one engine down form the top SQ5 rocket ship version and it can shift. But let’s start off with a quick look at some of the key features the vehicle came with: Metallic Paint, Bluetooth, Roof Rails, Fine Nappa Leather upholstery, Multi Media Interface Control System, Rear Acoustic parking system, Remote Electric Tailgate, DAB Radio, Technology Pack with HDD Nav and your choice of 3 different variants of 20” Alloy Wheels. The vehicle boasts 45.6 mpg combined fuel economy a CO2 of 163 g/KM and a P11d Value of £43044.98.

There are some impressive extras you can get and we had the Panoramic Sunroof together with electric sun blind, Audi Drive select which allows you to choose between economy, Dynamic (Sporty), Individual (tailored to you) and Comfort. Both of these options were great.

Bang and Olufsen Sound System

If you like your music and you want the kind of quality you would only expect ot get at a Rock Concert the Bang and OIufsen system has you covered. It boasts 505 Watts through 14 Speakers and it still puts a smile on my face just thinking about how good the sound system was. I did a typical test of ACDC, Thunderstruck and then All about the Base from some young up and coming music person (I am not that old really). In both cases not only was it possible to nigh on deafen myself but the quality was immense. I also liked the fact that as a sole driver with no passengers you could focus the sound on yourself rather than just the car and makes quite a difference. If you are leasing this car it is worth the £535 option price (£10 per month on a 6 + 47, 48 Month contract).

The Audi Q5

Having driven a lot of cars it sometimes feels like they blend together with variations of the same theme, some coming fully loaded and some a bit barren. We had expected a lot from this car coming from one of the German giants and we were massively impressed. I cannot say whether it was the smooth transition through the 7 speed gearbox or the thrill of the 0-62mph acceleration in 6.2 seconds, but what I can say is the joy of the most amazing stereo ever made (In my opinion, on that day) combined with the feel and drive of the car left me smiling from ear to ear and desperate to get one as my next vehicle. Now I fall in love with a lot of cars but am very price driven and typically lease the cheapest / best deal I can find irrespective of badge or vehicle type but in this case I would make an exception. If my pick up truck accidently rolled into the lake I would order the car today.

Audi Q5 – In conclusion

Aside from the drive, the feel, the luxury, the speed and the sound system there is one massive drawback, which is you have to wait 6 months to build the one you want from scratch, but to be fair Rome was not built in a day so definitely worth the wait.
